JD May was my trainer for about a year and a half.We met twice a week, and he had workouts ready for me. One thing that I noticed right away was how thorough JD always was. We never wasted any time. JD knew howto make every minute count, and he would make sure that I actually did the necessary number of repetitions, and did them correctly (and yes, at times it *did* hurt,especially the leg presses). I played at Hardin-Simmons University and Texas Wesleyan University. Unfortunately, due to a combination of COVID and some other unforeseen events, my basketball career got cut short. My sport abruptly ending left me feeling lost and purposeless. The situation forced me to adapt and work to find my true purpose in life. Hello everyone! My name is Richard Ortiz, and I am a personal trainer here at THRC! I was raised in Orlando, FL but I left when I was 17 to join the Army. In the Army, my life revolved around physical fitness. I found a passion for improving my body so that I can perform at peak capacity. I moved here from Germany in 2017 and I couldn’t be happier to call Texas my home! I am currently going to school at ACC with the goal of transferring to Texas State where I will pursue a Bachelors in Exercise and Sports Science / Pre-Rehabilitation degree. I once found myself in a place where I was depressed, unhappy, and unhealthy. I found that physical activity was a major catalyst to my therapy and recovery.

My passion for mental health, fitness and wellness grew after I trained with Courtney here at THRC. I discovered my calling! Now, my goal is helping others the same way that I was helped. Tactical and functional fitness is my jam! I can work with all types of clients; I have a passion for helping people improve themselves both physically and mentally. Hi everyone! My name is Sebastian Buitron, I am a personal trainer here at THRC Downtown. I graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Fitness Management. I got into fitness 10 years ago, when my parents were training for their first marathon which really inspired me. So when I turned 12, I asked for a half marathon registration for my birthday. A few years ago, my Dad was diagnosed with cancer, he was told if he hadn’t been in the shape he was in, he wouldn’t have made it. Since then, I have dived deep into fitness and am trying to do as much as possible to spread awareness about living a healthy lifestyle. After being motivated by my dad’s battle, I’ve completed many Half Marathons, two Full Marathons, and a Half Ironman. I have also competed in powerlifting, where I found a love for strength training. My goal is to inspire people to live a healthy lifestyle and be the best version of themselves.
